Tokyo Midtown is calling for submissions for both the art and design segments of the Tokyo Midtown Award 2010. Launched in 2008, this year marks the third edition of the competition that has fast garnered attention from the Japanese art world. The theme for this year’s art competition is ‘JAPAN VALUE – the glass showcase challenge’, which seeks proposal for artworks that consider their production and display in Midtown’s ‘glass-case passageway’ public space. The finalists will receive 1 million yen for production of their works and the grand prize winner another 1 million in prize money. Forming the jury are Kojima Yayoi, Shimizu Toshio, Tsuchiya Kimio, Nakayama Daisuke and Hachiya Kazuhiko. Application materials must be submitted in Japanese.
