Sophie Calle

French artist Sophie Calle has been selected as the 2010 winner of the prestigious Hasselblad Foundation International Award in Photography. The award was established by the Swedish camera manufacturer in 1980, making Calle the 30th recipient. Among the previous winners the like of Jeff Wall and Nan Goldin are Japanese photographers Sugimoto Hiroshi and Hamaya Hiroshi. Sophie Calle was born in Paris in 1953. She has had solo shows in Japan at the Hara Museum of Contemporary Art in 1999, at the Toyota Municipal Museum of Art in 2003 and a two-person show together with Sugimoto Hiroshi at Gallery Koyanagi in 2005.
