TOKYO PHOTO 2009, Japan’s international art fair specializing in works of photography, takes place the first weekend of September in Roppongi. Featuring Japanese and international galleries seen at Europe’s largest photography-specific art fair, Paris Photo, this year Tokyo welcomes debut appearances by galleries from New York and Los Angeles. Among Japanese galleries on the roster are SCAI THE BATHHOUSE, Koyama Tomio Gallery and hiromiyoshii. Members of the Fair’s advisory committee include Kasahara Michiko (Chief Curator, Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography) and Goto Shigeo (Professor, Kyoto University of Art and Design), with architect Yamaguchi Makoto handling interior and graphic design. Held in conjunction with the fair will be Photo America, an exhibition of works from the collection of San Diego’s Museum of Photographic Arts.
