Hashimoto Satoshi fruit 2008
The National Art Studio in Changdong (run by National Museum of Contemporary Art, Korea), Seoul’s Alternative Space LOOP and the director of last autumn’s International Festival for Arts and Media Yokohama, Sumitomo Fumihiko, join forces to present Point. The exhibition at Kyoto Art Center in Japan follows the team’s Point 2008 exhibition held in Seoul, and has been realized as a result of exchange not only among artists, but also among critics and curators from the two countries. This edition features the works of six Korean and Japanese artists. The exhibition itself aims to act as a platform for critical exchange and mutual stimulation.
Scheduled events on opening day (9 January) include a performance by participating artist Hashimoto Satoshi; a talk among Point curators Sumitomo Fumihiko and Suh Jinsuk (Director of LOOP) and independent critic and curator Hara Hisako, and a concert by the Korean music group Hwaum Project.
