Beuys in Japan
Filmart, A5/224 pages/¥2,600
out January 2010
Beuys in Japan, the catalogue published to coincide with the 8 Days – Beuys in Japan exhibition showing through 24 January at Art Tower Mito, has just been released.
To celebrate its publication, artists Aida Makoto and Matsukage Hiroyuki and novelist Mobu Norio will take part in a talk held in Tokyo, chaired by the curator of the exhibition, Takahashi Mizuki. Reflecting on Beuys’ messages, and seeking alternatives to today’s crisis-driven society, they plan to debate how to attain strength of expression, while at times nestled deep in the pockets of mass society.
Talk Session: Where lies the future of art practice (action) as social resistance? Carrying out Beuys’ ideas today.
