Smithsonian Institution Arthur M. Sackler Gallery (Washigton DC)

Two artists who create animated works based on traditional expressive techniques from their respective home countries. In interesting juxtaposition are Pakistan-born Sikander’s video works in which segments of her richly colored miniature paintings reel and squirm as if somehow possessed, and Chinese-born Sun’s filming of hand-drawn black and white images created using sheets of old newspaper and expanses of white wall.
