Focusing video as a medium that invites contemplation, this exhibition features a selection of video works created since the year 2000 that reveal ‘invisible or hidden alternative worlds’ that ordinarily go unnoticed. Among the nine participating artists/units from Japan and abroad are Ukawa Naohiro, Sawa Hiraki, Jeremy Deller, Chim↑Pom, and Fujii Hikaru. Related events include a two-day (10 and 11 April) lecture series in which participating artists Ukawa and Fujii meet filmmaker Mori Tatsuya and sociologist Mori Yoshiaki and others to ruminate “on the ‘publicness’ of art and video”.
