Saito Yoshishige x Kikuchi Atsuki Positive and negative
Co-organized by two relatively new Aomori museums, Love Love creates a platform for ‘encounter’ not only between artists, but also between art and the unique architecture of these two museums, as well as between artworks and visitors. Displays consist basically of works created by artist pairs – not only artists paired with those working in other visual arts disciplines, but also with those working in genres the likes of music, manga and literature. Among the curious combinations of the 17 participating artists that characterize this show are collaborations between artists of the same generation working in different genres, such as musician Sogabe Keiichi and artist Okumura Yuki, and those crossing generations, such as contemporary artist Akiyama Sayaka who traces here footsteps in colorful embroidery and the bird’s-eye-view map artist active before and after WWII Yoshida Hatsusaburo.
