The artist whose video-based works and installations have stemmed from her almost obsessive devotion to drawing exploits every resource at Singapore Tyler Print Institute to create a new body of works on paper. When making paper became part of the work, she likened drawing to ‘soiling’ the paper’s pure whiteness and became conscious of her beastliness as her violent acts – drawing, tearing, burning, and layering paper upon paper – progressively changed the expression of the material. emerge as features 22 (one-off and edition) works created during her STPI residency. Signature Tabaimo motif’s – subcutaneous organs and tissues, hair and bugs – undergo collaboration with the workshop and emerge on heretofore uncharted ground for both parties.
