Curated by Chinese native Hou Hanru and taking ‘The Spectacle of the Everyday’ as its theme, the tenth Lyon Biennial features works created by 60 artists including Shilpa Gupta, Huang Yong Ping, Iwasaki Takahiro, Lee Mingwei, Michael Lin, Eko Nugroho, and Xijing Men (Chen Shaoxiong, Ozawa Tsuyoshi, Gimhongsok). In today’s world, where everything tends towards spectacle, the Biennale spotlights the everyday and the creation within it that uses the spectacle as ways of resisting the consumption it symbolizes.
