A New Zealand gallery celebrates the completion of its major expansion project with a solo exhibition by the Japanese artist whose idiosyncratic and consistently original work has made her a prominent figure in the international art world since her early avant-garde art production in the 1960s in New York. Kusama works across a range of disciplines, from writing and musical composition, dance, fashion and design to fine art and film. Mirrored Years presents seminal works from the 1960s and 1970s alongside more recent work. Here Kusama’s world of iconic dots, nets and mirrored rooms multiplies infinitely, drawing the viewer into an other-worldly experience.
