Solo show by an artist who’s been in huge demand in the Asian art market ever since he represented Indonesia at the first Singapore Biennale (2007). Defying perhaps the art market’s penchant for two-dimensional works, here he presents primarily an array of small objects. This show marks the first chance in a while to see a substantial body of these worn-out materials, all but trash, brought back to life as three-dimensional works of art through Handiwirman Saputra’s singular sense of aesthetics.
