The first solo show in New Zealand by the pioneer of Indian contemporary art who has continually produced experimental works features Malani’s iconic Mother India: Transactions in the Construction of Pain (2005). The five-screen video installation that takes as its theme abuses the to women of her mother country during the Partition of India in 1947 and the Gujarat genocide in 2002, will be accompanied by a suite of the artist’s reverse glass paintings.
