The first solo show in Tokyo in five years by contemporary art giant Anish Kapoor whose recent high-profile projects range from sculpture for the Japan Industry Pavilion at the Shanghai Expo, a special-edition ring for Bulgari and a monumental sculpture in the making for the 2012 Olympics in London. The Mumbai-born, London-based artist is best known for his meditative sculptural installations that often destabilize the viewer’s sensory perception. This exhibition features his recent stainless steel Ommateal mirror, works created in collaboration with Japanese lacquerware craftsmen including a granite and lacquer sculpture that looms in the gallery space like the entrance to the another world, among other must-be-experienced sculptures.
