The centerpiece of this exhibition is a large-scale mobile titled Project for a Temporary Sculpture (Hiroshima) hanging from the gallery ceiling. Starling’s new work focuses on specific Henry Moore sculptures in the collections of the Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art and the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington DC that create key links to the politics associated with atomic energy. The work was prompted by an invitation to mount a solo exhibition at HMoCA currently slated for January-April 2011.
