Sarah Sze to represent US at Venice Biennale

Sarah Sze will represent the United States at the next Venice Biennale in 2013, it was announced Feb 24. Entitled Triple Point, her project for Venice is commissioned by the Bronx Museum of the Arts, New York. Known for site-specific installations of everyday materials such as thread and plastic kitchenware arranged into intricate, quasi-structural formations, Sze plans to make a new work responding to the architecture of the US Pavilion, built in 1930 in a Palladian-style design by William Adams Delano and Chester Holmes Aldrich. The Bronx Museum will also host on its website a live-stream video of Sze as she installs the work in Venice. Sze is currently the subject of a solo exhibition, “Infinite Line,” at the Asia Society Museum in New York, through March 25. She had a solo exhibition in Tokyo at Le Forum, Maison Hermès, in 2008.
