“Winter Garden” exhibition is over.

“Winter Garden: The Exploration of the Micropop Imagination in Contemporary Japanese Art” is over, and the museum is currently closed in preparation for the next exhibition, “Selections from the Hara Museum Collection” (starts on August 1). During the “Winter Garden” show, we had three talk events with Midori Matsui, curator for the exhibition, and artists Ryoko Aoki, Makiko Kudo and Lyota Yagi.

On July 15 (Wed.), we had a slide talk event with Matsui (second from left), Aoki (center), and Kudo (right). A live Q and A session followed the talk.

On July 18 (Sat.), Yagi (left) put on an ice record for his work “VINYL” (2006-2009) after the talk event. There were ‘oohs’ and ‘aahs’ from the audience when a record-shaped ice (taken out from a silicon mold) started to play a tune.

“Image cake” served at the Hara Museum’s Café d’art during the “Winter Garden” exhibition. Cat motif was used in many of the works on display. So there is a cat on the cake! Image Cake is especially prepared only during the exhibition period to match the theme of the exhibition. Please look forward to the next cake.
