Currently featured in Gallery A is Part III of the highly popular year-long exhibition Kengo Kito: Multiple Star, featuring a new large-scale installation created on-site by the artist who, after creating two other installations in Parts I and II, arrived at a totally different approach for Part III.

As one of its special features, Gallery A is illuminated by natural light from a skylight, which filters through the variously colored cloths that span horizontally across the room, filling the space with glowing colors that change with the weather and time of day. Other works include an oval mirror rotating at eye level and a neon light-incorporating work projecting rays of strong light and shadows. Being variously located deep within the space, these elements join together in a symphony of light, color and sound.

Here and there throughout the space are devices that circulate water and bubbles, seemingly like living creatures breathing in and out. In them is a resonance between the organic and inorganic, between the “dynamic” and “static” that can be perceived and enjoyed.

The design of the installation is such that visitors are naturally moved to ‘take in” the artwork As they enter the gallery, visitors unconsciously find themselves moving around to different positions, gazing up, crouching down and peeking into the artwork. We hope many will come to the show before it ends and “take in” this very special installation.
