■”The New within the Old: Contemporary Art from the Hara Museum Collection” [ARC]

From Hara Museum ARC, Gunma

Designed by Arata Isozaki and constructed in 2008 as part of an expansion of Hara Museum ARC, the Kankai Pavilion is a venue where traditional East-Asian art (from the Hara Rokuro Collection) meets contemporary art. This exhibition marks the first time that the Kankai Pavilion will be used solely for the display of contemporary art. We invite you to experience the special harmony that arises between works by artists at the cutting edge of the 21st century (the “New”) and a space that embodies the ancient traditions of the shoin style of architecture (the “Old”).
