Today we introduce the exhibition catalogue for Eiichiro Sakata – Enoshima exhibition, currently on view at the Hara Museum until September 29. For details about the show, see the blog at the following link:

This compact volume includes vivid color plates of Sakata’s never-before-shown series Enoshima, which consists mainly of ″peopleless portraits.″ The catalogue begins with an essay by Toshiharu Ito, art historian and professor at Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music), in which he provides a sharp analysis of the series’ characteristics and charms. It ends with a text by Eiichiro Sakata containing his personal thoughts about about his deeply felt work.
