Here is another report from Hara Museum ARC in Gunma. From March 19, we will be holding two exhibitions, one featuring works of contemporary art at contemporary art galleries of the museum, another featuring traditional art works (displayed together with contemporary artworks) at Kankai Pavilion.

This is one of the representative works from Hara Rokuro Collection, and is one of the three Chinese celadon vases designated National Treasures by the Japanese government. The vase’s beautiful pale blue glaze, delicate texture and smooth roundness together create a balanced harmony that has earned its reputation as the epitome in blue celadon vases from China. The work will be on display throughout the entire exhibition period.

Also on view during the first part of the exhibition (from Saturday, March 26 to Wednesday, April 27) will be “Portrait of Lie Zi” by Sesson, which was introduced on Premium 8, an NHK BS-hi high-definition broadcast (http://www.nhk.or.jp/bs/premium8) last month, waka poem “Kokin Waka-shu” by Hon’ami Koetsu, and other works.
