Kankai Pavilion Summer exhibition

Kankai Pavilion Summer exhibition: Dynamic Beauty on view until July 29.
Rainy season is over, and here comes the summer! The greenery surrounding ARC is brighter.

Almost a year has passed since the last expansion project.

On view at the right side of the photo is the newly built Kankai Pavilion
dedicated to showcase works of traditional art. On the east of the museum
lies a neighboring pasture. You will be able to see horses and sheep
munching on the grass from a corridor leading to the Kankai Pavilion. These
horses and sheep are from the Ikaho Green Bokujo ranch located next to the
museum.

On view at the newly born Kankai Pavilion is the exhibition “Dynamic Beauty” (on view until July 29).

Here is a left screen of the work “Sumo match” (pair of six-fold screens, Edo period) now on view.
Basically, the rule of the sumo has not changed much…or has it?

Kankai Pavilion is a space built in a style of traditional Japanese architecture where you can enjoy a dialogue between traditional (from the Hara Rokuro Collection) and contemporary (from the Hara Museum of Contemporary Art) works of art.
