As the two last events related to the exhibition MU – Pedro Costa & Rui Chafes, we will screen two documentaries that show the true face of each artist. Both works were well received at the Athénée Français Cultural Center where they were screened last December. Includes Japanese subtitles. (Each film will be shown only once during the screening.)

Durante o Fim (During the End) (2003 / 70 minutes / Director: João Trabulo / Language: Portuguese, English and others)
This film documents the true essence of Rui Chafes’ expression as it shows him in his studio silently cutting and welding iron to produce a sculpture. Also included are interviews with the artist and images of the various artists that have influenced him.

This film shows Pedro Costa during the production of Colossal Youth. Costa is shown exposing his philosophy about cinema along with scenes from such movies such as Bones, In Vanda’s Room and Danièle Huillet, Jean-Marie Straub Cinéastes: Où Gît Votre Sourire Enfoui?.
