Tempo Mobiles on Display at Museum Shop [ARC]

Hara Museum ARC, Gunma

Warm weather has finally arrived in the Ikaho region surrounding Hara Museum ARC and the cherry blossoms are in full bloom. From now until the last part of May, many varieties of sakura take turns opening their petals, presenting visitors with an array of colors they normally don’t see.

In the spirit of the spring, the Museum Shop is happy to present the colorful, playful Tempo series of contemporary mobiles produced by the innovative tool design company mother tool.

I’m Only Sleeping 10,260 yen (tax included)
This mobile consists of seven acrylic slats colored only on the top surface. Arranged in step fashion, each slat slowly rotates along a horizontal plane. This very beautiful mobile seems to embody the act of dozing off into a dream state.

Circle Waltz 9,180 yen (tax included)
This mobile consists of several very thin metal circles and can be attached to any steel surface by way of a magnet. Hanging in the air, the circles naturally change shape as they are drawn downward by the force of gravity. With its subtle, bouncing movements, this mobile delights the eye with its gentle dance.

The cat cut-out on the right is available for purchase separately.
Guitou the Cat by 5.5 designers
Set of 6 types 12,960 yen (tax included)

Constellation 7,344 yen (tax included)
This mobile is made up of V-shaped wires connected from top to bottom by a single string. The length of the string and the arrangement of the wires can be freely changed. This lyrical mobile takes on the appearance of a constellation of stars in the middle of your room.

Other mobiles can viewed inside the Café d’Art.
Left: Perspective 10,260 yen (tax included)
Center: Throughout 10,260 yen (tax included)
Right: Satellite 9,180 yen (tax included)

In addition to the above types, three other mobiles are available (for a total of 9 types). Each one is meticulously crafted by skilled Japanese artisans. Unique, bold, yet delicate, these mobiles are relatively light in weight and therefore safe to handle, and are distinguished by their easy-to-detect movements.

Not only do they add a delightful array of slowly changing shapes and shadows within the room environment, but they draw attention to the passage of time and direction of the air currents. Moreover, the variety of materials—natural wood, acrylic, stainless steel, magnets–that constitute the various mobiles have their own stories to tell. We invite you to drop by and experience these mobiles with your own eyes and see how one might fit into and enhance whatever space you may envision for it.
