The February 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics will see the Japanese luge team vie for the first time on new-model sleds developed collaboratively by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and the University of Tokyo using aerospace technology.
The sleds are also decorated with artwork by Nakamura Tetsuya, an artist who takes ‘speed’ as the theme of works that include paint patterns and sculptures depicting running at high speed. This time he expresses ‘the fastest art on the fastest luge’ for the fastest (about 150km per hour) sport on ice.
To mark the occasion the Japanese Olympic luge team’s luge, helmet, racing wear and introduction of the participation player, competition picture and development and material presenting the athletes will be exhibited in Tokyo.
