Architect Sejima Kazuyo has been appointed as Artistic Director of the 12th Venice Biennale International Architecture Exhibition taking place in 2010. At past stagings of the festival, Sejima was responsible for exhibit design of the Japanese Pavilion in 2000 and received the Golden Lion in 2004 together with Nishizawa Ryue as SANAA for their design of the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa. Her recent art-related projects include design of the 2009 Serpentine Gallery Pavilion (London), and architectural design for the 2010 Inujima Art Project (Okayama).
