Deutsche Bank has announced the winner of the first edition of its new program, established in 2010, for supporting young artists. Nairobi-born, New York-based Wangechi Mutu was selected by an advisory team including curators Nancy Spector and Hou Hanru. A traveling show of the artist’s works will begin its tour at the Deutsche Guggenheim in April.
Mutu has exhibited in the past in Japan at Africa Remix: Contemporary Art of a Continent (2006, Mori Art Museum).
