Dancer Yasumoto Masako, who closed 2009 with a performance in collaboration with Tabaimo to coincide with the artist’s solo show Tabaimo: Danmen currently underway at the Yokohama Museum of Art, kicks off 2010 with performances in the 13th Annual Contemporary Dance Showcase: Japan + East Asia at the Japan Society in New York. Along with the US premiere of Yasumoto’s slap, pat, suck, the program features performances by the Japanese companies Derashinera, led by choreographer Onodera Shuji, and KIKIKIKIKIKI, led by butoh-trained Kita Mari, Korea’s LDP (Laboratory Dance Project), and WCdance from Taiwan.
