Christie’s Dubai Modern and Contemporary Art sale on 27 October realized a total of $6,736,475 from 118 lots sold. The top lot was the 1943-born Egyptian artist Ahmed Moustafa’s Remembrance and Gratitude (2009), which sold for $662,500, setting a world record for a modern/contemporary work of art by an Arab artist. The auction’s second highest seller was Untitled (Yellow Heads) (1979) by Indian artist Tyeb Mehta at $578,500, followed by Burhan Dogancay’s Rift (from the Ribbons series) at $242,500.
