Paris Autumn – Angeles2006 – 2008 Silver gelatin print
An installation of Pushpamala N’s Paris Autumn, an experimental short film based on the artist’s own experiences, and photographs. In the autumn of 2005, the Indian artist rented a room in Paris and strange things began to happen. After learning she was living in an outhouse of the mansion that once belonged to King Henri IV’s mistress Gabrielle d’Estrées, the artist takes to the streets of Paris to find out about this woman who, poisoned, lost her life at 26, in this keenly observed account of the nature of the city.
