Hiroshima MoCA FIVE 25/26

Since the Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art first opened in 1989, the museum has held a series of open-call exhibitions with the aim of supporting artists’ creative activities. While also striving to create exhibitions that are attractive to visitors, the museum has adopted a variety of structures and formats in events. In 2023, following the museum’s renovation and reopening, these initiatives were carried forward and reorganized under the new framework of Hiroshima MoCA FIVE.
The theme of “Memory” was chosen for this second open-call exhibition, resulting in 280 submissions from artists aroud the world. Five artists and groups were selected in a review process that was conducted by the Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art and a special judge. The artists created works specifically for this exhibition based on their own plans, which are also presented here.
