Project in Köln

I went back to Japan from Köln, and one month passed. On Sunday of June 6 that was the solo exhibition last day at St. peter, "Return to Sea, project" was performed. This project has a participant break a work, and it is a thing to have the sea give back salt. I was not able to participate this time. However, the children who gathered for mass came in great numbers.

And the project finally start! My installation work disappears from the world in this again. I am slightly lonely. However, I am glad when I watch a happy face of them. I seem to hear a shout of joy of children.

People usually take salt to home. However, they put back salt to the river together this time. Because, Köln is located in the German inland department. There is distance a little bit to the North Sea.

The sightseeing train of the child use that the movement from a church to the Rhine did special order. They moved by it for children.

They arrived at the Rhine. They returned salt all at once. When will this salt arrive at the sea?

At the church, mass for adults was performed, but one boy scrapes up salt left silently on the side. He brought the biggest bag today!!! I met him during production sometimes. He said comment like adult. "The work of Yamamoto is a job to need time for very much,,,"

By this event, my installation work has disappeared in the world.
The next exhibition is Marseilles of September.

Naruto Strait

Return to Sea, Project in Kyoto was over. And we went to longed-for Pontocho area! It is my dream to drink on a deck made on a riverbank of Kamogawa-river.

From the left, Mr. Takagi of the cameraman and Mr. Hota of the director, the TV station. And Saori of the friend who is to go to return the salt to the sea together tomorrow.

We went to Tokushima the next day across the bridge. The purpose is to put back salt to Naruto Strait. The whirling current was great force more than expected. The ship shook very much. The expensive camera of Takagi almost returned to the sea!. It is very dangerous!!!

Where will the salt drift now?

We observed the whirlpool from the top of the bridge. At the time of flood tide of the spring, the whirlpool grows big most. It is the timing today. A lot of people looked from the floor of the glass. However, it is me to have looked in time that is longer than anyone.

Returned to Sea, Project in Kyoto

A private exhibition of Kyoto finished at the end of last month. I performed "Returned to Sea, Project in Kyoto" on 15th. 40 people came for a project. Thank you!

Salt Project, "Returned to Sea"

I perform a project "Return to Sea" on the last day of the exhibition. I and the assenter of this project return the salt which is the material of the work to the sea after the exhibition end. The photograph which appeared in here was photographed by an assenter, and it was sent back by an E-mail.

"The form as the work disappears. However, this salt dissolves in seawater and will support the life of various creatures. Possibly the opportunity when we eat it may come. Of course it is the best joy for me if it can meet again as material of the works."

The center is Naomi of the owner, eN-arts. They are Miyuki (left) and Akiko (right) of the staff. They kept my work. Thank you very much for wonderful space and encounter !

To Japan

I am finally return to Japan. But I go to Hamburg first. Here, there are a lot of friends. Ten people gathered tonight. It was a really tight schedule this time. I was not able to eat out. But, It is German food tonight! I thoroughly enjoyed cooking and beer. Delicious ...!

Then we climbed St. Michel. There is a bar there!!!

And I return to Japan. I was affected by the volcano of Iceland for some reason, and the airplane was almost empty probably because there were few people who made a voyage to the Europe recently. Japan is a rice-transplanting season.

Mass

Mass on Sunday. The people of church displayed chairs to surround my work. Father Holter decided a trial of this experimental mass. I deeply appreciated.

Because, the Father decided to use the sculpture as an altar. I am glad. Therefore I postponed the plan that left Cologne and decided to watch mass. It was splendid. A work of the salt seems to be totally a round pond.

A voice of the clear Father wrapping up a work and a beautiful hymn. I spent dreamlike time.

I think that Father saw the mass. Anyway, I had a valuable experience. I cannot tell you how happy and thankful I was.

ART COLOGNE

*** This is the blog which I wrote 2 weeks ago. ***
Spargel is not familiar very much in Japan. However, white asparagus is very major vegetables in Germany. For the period to be able to enjoy spargel, it is the middle of June from the middle of April.

Stephan and his wife, Hyun. They invited me to supper. Thanks. Stephan is a great artist. I was same as him at time of the group exhibition “Hundred Stories about Love”, in 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa in 2009. He projected a mouse by a green laser beam on the wall.

I went to the Germany's greatest art fair "ART COLOGNE" the next day. Huge Messe place along the Rhine.

The car that the work lying at the entrance seems to be a potato insect. It is interesting. The exhibition of the inside is comparatively common. An airplane is canceled under the influence of the volcano of Iceland. Therefore the Japanese is the impression that I really have little. My some friends took this influence and gave up this voyage. "ART COLOGNE" would catch the severely wounding.

I looked at the Dome while being jolted to a huge chair.

Opening !

It is finally an opening tonight. A poster was posted around the charch.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/49513134@N02/show/

400 people came for an opening reception. In the first floor, there is a person around a work. And, in the second floor, a lot of people lean forward and stare at the work. In openings of this church, white wine and bread are always treated to. There are no other hors d'oeuvres. This is tradition of this church.

I spent peaceful time in the second party. The left, Mr. Horst Berkhahn of “Akzo Nobel” who offered salt this time, too. And knowing Father Holter. Thank you very much.

The last Mr. and Mrs. Bahl and Miki of the gallerist. This solo exhibition that I cooperated with Miki, and managed to reach holding. The greatest person who has rendered distinguished services is Miki ! Thanks. And the greatest supporter is Mr. Jürgen Bahl and Mrs. Cornelia Bahl. Search for sponsors, the presents of sushi and cake. And they presented the massage to me. Therefore my body which went bad recovered. I cannot tell you how happy and thankful I was.

Completion !

There is excellent stained glass in this solo exhibition place St. Peter. The gentle sunlight of the afternoon changed a small window into natural stained glass.

By the way, I am finally a last spurt for completion. Five minutes more!

( Photo : Stefan Worring )
I used refined salt 170 kilos and made a diameter of 12 meters, 113 square meters. I installed the work every day for approximately 15 hours from ten hours and was able to finish it in 10 days. The all of you who considered it so that I could concentrate on making. I do not know how to thank you!

Kai gave me bath-salt. I heal fatigue of ten days.

A little more

It is the wonderful photograph that a work looks like the moon. (photo:Stefan Worring / Koln Stadt-Anzeiger April 20)

I begin to work at about 8:00 every morning. When it is 9:00, the morning sun comes in through stained glass. The light that went along the bright glass colors the salt into red and blue. The light to change every moment is really beautiful.

By the way, making is the final stage. I was able to keep drawing it to about 90% by the ninth day. If there is not even a big problem, it is completion tomorrow.

From the left, Hiroko and Taeko of the friend. They came for support with me from Hamburg. Thanks. Mr. Yamada that the right is always cool. His German is the super best by fluency. He is staying as an interpreter of a TV station coming from Japan. And Miki of the gallerist to roar with laughter in the middle. What is so funny?
